About us

North Pine Bush Poets was established in March 1996.  We are well known in the Moreton Bay region and beyond.

Who are we?

The North Pine Bush Poets group is made up of a friendly bunch of writers, performers and lovers of poetry as well as singers, musicians and other entertainers.

Where are we?

You can find us on the first and third Sunday of the month, starting around 9.00am, at the back of Coutt’s Cottage, Old Petrie Town Heritage Village, Dayboro Road, Kurwongbah –  just west of Petrie.

We also meet with the Poets Of The Park on the third Tuesday of each month at St Margaret’s church hall, Rainbow Street, Sandgate, from 5.30pm for a meal and an evening of mixed entertainment.

An open invitation is extended to visitors or performers at our Associated poet groups:

Bribie Island Bush Poets – 6:30pm 4th Monday each month at the Blue Pacific Hotel, Woorim

Beerwah Bush Poets – 9.00am 2nd Saturday each month at Beerwah Library

How can we help you?

Hire us! Our membership includes highly experienced bush poetry performers and other entertainers who can offer a great range of presentations to help give a kick to your celebrations, club meetings, and other events. Just have a look at the directory under ‘Find a Poet’ to see who meets your needs.

Learn from us! Our award-winning poets can also help you to develop your own rhyming and metred poetry – writing it and performing it. Both individual assistance and group workshops can be arranged and all you have to do is ask!  Click on the Training’ tab at the top of the page to see the ways in which we can help enhance your poetry to publication and competition standard.

Join us! We are always open to welcoming new members, whether as writers, performers, or fans of bush poetry. Click on the ‘Join Us’ tab for information on how to join.

This North Pine Bush Poets website, will keep you up to date with all the happenings of the group so pop it into your ‘favourites’ and keep an eye on the ‘What’s On? space for the latest news.

Share with us! As well as our regular meetings, we host an annual concert to raise money for a specified charity. In 2019, we raised over $14,000 to help with drought relief for families in the Winton area (the home of ‘Waltzing Matilda’). Many of us also participate in bush poetry competitions held around the country – always a wonderful chance to meet old and new friends – and, in 2021, we plan to host a State-wide competition – it will be huge!
